Introduction to Mapping

Mapping in Aski Raski is a one-to-one assessment tool that gives a clear picture of a learner’s decoding skills, including letters, blending, single-syllable words and more. It highlights areas of confidence, gaps in learning and where support is needed.

Mapping can be repeated to monitor progress over time and provides valuable information for planning teaching and intervention.

Practical tips before you begin:

  • Mapping is carried out one-to-one between an 'assessor' and learner.

  • The mapping assessments take around 10 minutes per learner.

  • Use a quiet space to minimise distractions.
